Day 5–Miracle Day

Today started a routine of what we will be doing for the next week or more.  We woke up around 7:30am and was at the orphanage by 9:30am.  We got to play with Malachi for 3 hours!  For now, we’ve agreed that doing a longer morning visit is better than 2 shorter visits (1 in morning, 1 in evening).

Today was a day of miracles! Malachi was unbelievable.  Yesterday we received a detailed report about how his development was going, etc.  Today, Malachi exceeded everything they said on his development reports by a long shot.  He was reaching for toys.  He was responding to us and started looking into our eyes.  He talked THE WHOLE time, and didn’t make his bubble sounds nearly as much.  He played with two toys at the same time, and picked them up by pinching them with two fingers.  He shook the toys that had sound and recognized toys that don’t make sound.  He rocked on his hands & knees, reaching for toys & preparing to crawl.  These are all things the psychologist and Jasmina were stunned at.  Jasmina said, “since we have never seen the things we saw today, we have under estimated his potential, and feel very good about his future.”

Today is Megan's mom's birthday--Happy Birthday Maxine!

Jasmina pulled us aside and said, “I don’t believe in magic, but something is happening here.”  The psychologist too never left the room today.  It seemed as though she couldn’t believe what Malachi was doing and how fast he was responding.  We are so proud of him.  It is so fun celebrating these leaps of development with him.

We owe all thanks for these wonderful things to the Lord, and also to all of you who are praying.  THANK YOU for your prayers. We can feel them, and we are watching them blossom in a little boy from Serbia.

  4. God is GOOD! It’s amazing to see what love can do! Makes you think of all the other children with a big “diagnose” on them, and a big part of it is just them waiting to be loved like they deserve to be!

Side note: Miles got very happy watching the videos of Malachi! He keeps asking me to watch “Malachaaaaiii” 🙂

  10. Wow. He is so beautiful and wonderful. Hallelujah!

  11. Ok, now THAT is the little boy we met in April!!! He just needed to not have such a HUGE audience! He just needs his mommy and daddy to love him!

  12. Oh – his laugh is so precious!! I can’t wait to meet him!

  13. I have tears in my eyes after watching your videos. He looks GREAT and is so much more responsive from when we saw him in June! It is amazing what the love of a mama and daddy can do!!! He looks so much older too… he is starting to look like a little boy, a very adorable little boy!

  14. He seems so much more responsive to you than even yesterday. How wonderful to see him blossoming.

  15. I praise God for bringing you all together. God is the inventor of families, it was his idea from the very begining, and He never makes a mistakes.

I praise God that you both are putting your trust in Him, and are leaning on Him for support.

Thank you for sharing your amazing journey with all of us by taking the time to post the pictures and video’s of Malachi. I can’t wait to meet him, hug him and give him my love too.

  16. I cried at my desk today when I watched the videos. God knew exactly what Malachi needed to thrive – Nathan & Megan as his parents! Praise God that you listened and obeyed! Hard to believe how much love your heart holds, isn’t it? With the large Phillips family he will always have someone lovin’ on him! I am so excited to wrap my arms around him and tell him, “I’m your Grandma!” Love you all! Mama P.

  17. It is so wonderful to see the videos of this precious little guy. That is great about the developmental progress. I so look forward to checking out your updates.
